🔒 Your JSON data never leaves your device. All processing happens entirely in your browser. We do not transmit, store, or have access to any JSON you paste or load into this tool.

This Privacy Policy applies to Format JSON, available at https://format-json.net/ ("the Site", "we", "us", or "our"). The Site provides free, browser-based JSON formatting, validation, and related developer tools.

2.1 Information You Provide
We do not collect, store, or transmit any JSON data, code snippets, or other content you enter into the tool. All processing is performed locally in your web browser using JavaScript. No content you input is ever sent to our servers.
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
When you visit the Site, certain information is collected automatically by our analytics provider and web infrastructure:
- Pages visited and time spent on those pages
- Your browser type, version, and operating system
- Approximate geographic location (country/region level, derived from IP address)
- Referring website (how you arrived at the Site)

This data is collected in aggregated, anonymised form. We do not use this data to identify individual users.
2.3 Local Storage & Session Storage

- _ga_* — Google Analytics 4. Persists session state. Expires after 2 years.
- _gid — Google Analytics. Distinguishes users over 24 hours. Expires after 24 hours.
To opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
You can also refuse cookies by adjusting your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies will not affect your ability to use any of the JSON tools on this Site.
4. Third-Party Services
4.1 Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics (property ID: G-4SQS6ZLMB3) to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics collects usage data and processes it in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. We have enabled IP anonymisation. We do not share any personally identifiable data with Google.
4.2 Google Tag Manager
We use Google Tag Manager (container ID: GTM-KBB4RLGW) to manage the deployment of analytics scripts. Google Tag Manager itself does not collect personal data; it only facilitates the loading of other tags. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
4.3 Content Delivery
The Site is hosted on Cloudflare Workers / Pages infrastructure. Cloudflare may log standard server access logs (IP addresses, request paths, timestamps) for security and performance purposes. These logs are handled in accordance with Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
5. How We Use Your Information
The limited analytics data we collect is used exclusively to:
- Understand which features are most useful to our visitors
- Identify and fix technical issues
- Improve the overall performance and usability of the Site
- Measure the reach of the Site (page views, unique visitors)
We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Analytics data collected via Google Analytics is retained for 26 months, after which it is automatically deleted. We do not maintain any other databases of user data. Because we do not receive your JSON content, there is no such data to retain or delete.

The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Links to Other Websites
